As many of you know, I am not really the cook of our family; Trav is. This works really well for us.Well, now here is yet another reason for him to be the cook!
I decided yesterday that since Trav was working on the remodel that I would do dinner for everyone. I really thought about just doing take out, but then decided I really wanted to make something. Fortunately, I had a really eas recipe for broccoli cheese soup. I decided on that with some sandwiches. It only has about 5 ingredients and it cooks in the crock pot. It was perfect; minus the fact that it was the 3rd time in 3 days that we had been to the store (twice yesterday) to get stuff for this dinner.
So, I start dumping everything together in the crockpot and turn it on high, since it was around 4:30 pm and we wanted to eat by midnight. Well, by about 7, it still wasn't done. The outside of the crock pot was very warm, but the soup was still pretty cold. So, Jaimie and I decided to put it in the stove at 300 degrees. It had been in there a little while, when the boys suggested putting it on the stove. It only sat on stove for less than 15 minutes and it was done. SO, apparently I forgot how long crockpots can take. And the directions did not say how long to cook it or what temperature. It only said to cook until broccoli was tender.
Finally, we got to eat around 8 pm or so. Everyone did agree that it was really good soup...we just wished it hadn't taken so long to heat!
