Ornament Tradition

One of our traditions is getting one new ornament every year. This is a tradition that we did in my family growing up. Trav and I both loved the idea so much that we decided to carry on.

As kids, we had to take turns picking out the ornament, so that it was fair for everyone. I usually got some sort of cute Santa ornament (which I still love for the record). Michael usually picked out the globe/bulby ones with the train/moving inside. I think Christina usually got the little house/town/store kind of ornaments. I don't remember what Ben chose....Sorry!

Anywho, back to Christmas present....Since there is just Trav and I we can usually just find and agree on the same ornament. We usually try to find an ornament that represents something about that year. For our first Christmas, we got a cute first Christmas ornament. It was called, "Leap of Love" and was frogs. For our second Christmas, we had painted the house, so we got an ornament that had a ladder, a paint bucket/brush, and tools. Last year, we had done so much traveling, that we picked out a suitcase.

Well this year, the big things were adopting Mazie and working on the basement. Since, we already had the ladder ornament, we decided to try and find something with a dog. When we saw this, we knew it was ABSOLUTELY perfect! It even plays "Bad to the Bone" if you press a button!

Thanks mom and dad for picking up this ornament; we couldn't get it at our local Layton Hallmark. We had a back up ornament, just in case; it was not nearly as perfect. It was a car door, that you slid your own dog picture into.

Love the ornaments...it was funny that you commented to Lydia about missing her because just the other day she said, "mom, I sure miss Mrs. Stephens...I wish that she would teach all of my classes". You are such an awesome teacher and Lydia loves you still.

PS: Remember that Kyler is waiting to have you as his kindergarten teacher!!!

Have a Merry Christmas and enjoy!

Um, time for an update here lady! You're goin on almost 2 months, I'm sure something interesting has happened. You can't possibly spend your days with a bunch of 5 year olds and not have some seriously funny stories! We thought it was funny when Isabel brought home her little reading paper, she had to make all the letter sounds, in order, they were: sh-i-t. Yep thats what she sounded out, school sure has changed!
