And this is what remains....
We are still alive....life has just been...well, interesting for us. About 3 weeks ago, I wrecked my car in an accident. No worries... I AM OKAY!!! However, the insurance has decided to total out my car. Now, we are just fighting with them on how much they are going to give us; we don't agree on the value of our car. No worries...we have a lawyer who is willing to represent us. He actually works for the state fighting insurance all the time; all of us are confident that we can get what is fair.
Then, Travis' car has been having problems lately. During all of this other mess, we decide that we need to take his car in and get it fixed, so at least one of our cars is working. Needless to say, 2 repair shops, 2 weeks, a starter, a computer, and $1400 later his car is fixed and runs like a champ. We were going to use our tax stimulus check to buy a new computer monitor (that broke about 2 months ago) and a new computer (its over 5 years old and should be replaced), but instead, that went to paying for Travis' car. Looks like we will be using our tv screen for a monitor for a few months longer.
We were in the process of getting the window put in the basement and sheet rocking, but all of this has been on hold. We also found out that Trav's tuition for his masters degree went up...like 37%. Get this, it is only his department/emphasis,etc. Apparently, the classes are in high demand and they need to be able to hire qualified, amazing teachers. Seems to me, you could charge less, if the demand is high, and still be able to hire great teachers. Someone or some people must be getting greedy at the top.
I have to say on the bright side of this accident and sharing one car most of the last three weeks, at least I don't have the complications of being in school and at least we are only filling one gas tank right now. I miss my car....I don't know how you could be so sentimemtal about a car....but I am. I cried the night of the accident and I cried when we saw it last week (more damage had been done to it, but that's another story). Part of me really wishes they would just fix it and have it back. On the other hand, I have loved looking at newer Accords and wouldn't mind getting something else. However, after having leather seats and a sunroof now, I really want them again; I can give up the spoiler, though. I realize that I am partial to a black exterior with a tan interior. If only I could find plum colored again...all would be right with the world.
Thank you to everyone who has offered to or loaned us a vehicle. Hopefully, we can get this figured out and resolved in the next week or two. Thank you to mom and dad for letting me work this summer; it helps us out as much, probably more, than I am helping you out. Thanks for all the advice, help, etc. from everyone who has dealt with this before. We would have no idea what to do and how to get what was fair. And here's to being optimistic/hopeful that we won't ever have to do this again, or anyone else we know!
