Oklahoma...

Life around here has been crazy. We Between the end of August and middle of September we spent about every other weekend out of town. First, we spent almost a week at Lake Powell. Next, we spent Labor Day weekend with Trav's mom and stepdad in St. George. Finally, we spent the middle of September in Oklahoma/Dallas.

I have a dear friend, Heather, that I taught with my very first year teaching. I LOVE HER! Anways, we taught together one year; then, Heather and her husband moved to Arkansas to do graduate school. We get to see them at Christmas and in the summer, but we can't wait until they get back here (someday, right guys???).

When we found out we were going to Dallas, we decided it would be fun to meet up with them. So, we worked it out to meet up with them Friday and Saturday in McCalester, OK. It was about a 3 hour drive for both of us. Heather and I made hotel reservations. We found an amazing looking place with great reviews and good prices. Don't believe everything you see on Expedia...this place was a dump with a capital D. The manager had sprayed earlier in the day for the stale smoke smell. But obviously, what is that going to do??? Trav and I spent the next hour looking for somewhere else to stay while we waited for Heather, Mayo, and Mason. The winner was an AmericInn. They are located mainly in Minnesota. However, there are 2 or 3 opening up in Idaho. I recommend them to anyone. THere were warm cookies and milk every night. They had a massage chair you could use, free of charge. The front desk had board games, dvd players, and dvds that yo could borrow. The breakfast fuffet was also amazing; waffles, eggs, cereal, fruit, etc.

We were there during the hurricane. We only felt the leftover effects; it rained pretty much the whole time. So, we swam played games, and watched "The Office: Season 2" (Heather swears I will love it).
We also visited the Oklahoma State Prison Historical Museum. It is the home of "Old Sparky", Oklahoma's first electric chair. All of us thought this would be a real cool place to visit. However, it turned out to be this LITTLE run-down building that looked like it hadn't been open in who knows how long. The pictures are what we could see through the windows.

We had lots of fun! Thanks for meeting up with us, Mayo and Heather. Can't wait to see you guys in a few months. Maybe we can come visit Arkansas over Spring Break.
Just for you, Heath..."Take off your headsets, lock the doors, WE ARE CLOSED!"
